Founder/Visionary & Experience Curator

Our visionary founder and adventurer, CJ, has a profound passion for people with exceptionalities and their families. She is an advocate for equality of all persons regardless of perceived social, emotional or physical limitations. She strives to enrich the lives of extraordinary individuals by advocating for uncommon experiences to transform dreams into realities.

CJ graduated Summa Cum Laude from her educational opportunities in Alabama. She holds an undergraduate degree in Collaborative Special Education and an M. Ed.in Deaf Education. She has led instructional programs in New York, Florida, Colorado and Alabama. As an athlete, CJ received certification in Sports Medicine and navigated an educational 

program for persons with physical differences.

CJ envisioned and birthed Project SoulShine in O'ahu, Hawai'i. Along with her husband and 4 children, CJ is invested in supporting the local community and beyond by offering specialized services to people with exceptionalities through eco-educational opportunities in the treasured Hawaiian land and sea.

DEBORAH BURDICK CURETON, ED.D.

Support Service Curator

Deb has experienced exceptionalities as a student, parent and educator. As a passionate lifelong learner, she most recently served as Academic Chair for a Biophilic charter school in South Fulton County, GA. Previous learning experiences include employment as an Instructional Support Specialist for the DoDEA Americas Center for Instructional Leadership; a DoDEA Americas Regional Instructional Systems Specialist for Special Education; a Positive Behavior and Interventions Support Coach; and an IEP Facilitator for the DoDEA Center for Early Dispute Resolution (CEDR).

​

Deb graduated Summa Cum Laude from her M. Ed. and Ed.D programs. She has served as an autism consultant and educator for students with exceptionalities in DoDEA, Georgia and Ohio. Deb was a candidate for Gwinnett County, GA Teacher of the Year in 2007 and the Central Ohio Special Education Regional Resource Teacher of the Year in 1997.

Deb and her husband, Keith, are honored to be the parents of 4 adopted children and elated grandparents to 8 grandchildren. They recently moved to Honolulu to serve the children of Hawai'i and their families. Deb is overjoyed to join the core visioning team for Project SoulShine.
